George Washington House Barbados

We just got back from a cruise on Serenade of the Seas in December and went to the George Washington House. (We really liked it, by the way!) I would recommend taking a taxi. It cost us $12 for the 2 of us. (There were others sharing the taxi van -- going the same way to beaches, etc.) Once there you could walk down the hill to one of the beaches or restaurants if that interests you, and then take a little shorter taxi ride back to the pier. We inquired after finishing the tour about getting a taxi right from George Washington House and the museum employee pointed to a taxi "stand" located across the street. It looked like it was in someone's house, but that worked out fine for us and he charged us only $10 to go back to the pier. Enjoy!!

I'd agree that you are better off taking a taxi from the port to the George Washington House.. on the way back walk down the hill, get on to the main road and start walking along.. nice beaches and an easier/closer bus or taxi ride from there back to the port.
