binky01 Posted January 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2010 Does any one have any info on culinary tours in Rio. I sent a request to a tour company called Brazil Nuts but they didn't respond. Thanks, Deb

Lirio Posted January 31, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Feijoada - black beans with pork meet. You eat it with rice, farofa (manioc flower) and cabbage. My favorite is Casa da Feijoada (Feijoada house) in Ipanema that serves it on daily basis. Some restaurants serve it on saturday as Confeitaria Colombo (downtown). For a more sophisticated local food you can try Quinta. It is a house 40 km far from downtown (near Barra). One of my favorites as weel. In Santa Tereza district you will find Aprazível (close to downtown). Sea food: you must try Satyricon a bit expensive, but it worth every dollar. Portuguese food (almost brazilian): Alfaia (Copacabana), Nova Capela (Lapa) and Antiquarius (very expensive - Leblon). You should also try fresh juice. It is typical of Cariocas (those born in Rio). The best places are in Ipanema and in Leblon. My favorite is balada in Leblon.
