Cruising89143 Posted January 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2010 Just looked at the Allures eastern itineary. They have Nassau for the first stop at 7-1. Not arriving in St. Thomas until 9:00. Not a good itinerary at all. I know that the Oasis class is considered the destination but not a good itineary. Nassau is more of a waste than it currently was. Too bad that they could not have dropped Nassau and put San Juan in it's place.

I can't imagine what I would do in that small window of time. I've never been there, do they have the same chain of shops that most ports have? I'd love San Juan or Labadee instead. Cruising89143 Posted January 30, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted January 30, 2010 Nassau is nothing special but at least with the Oasis, she doesn't arrive until around 1:00 or so and that gives you time to sleep in and then some time off the ship for a few hours. Pretty much the same shops that one will see on the other islands. We usually go over and grab lunch at the Hard Rock which is what we did last week. apwog1985 Posted January 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2010 We have been to Nassau many time and there really isn't much to do unless you have an excursion. The only somewhat interesting thing to do is the Straw Market which is a really short walk from the ship. Other than that I wouldn't wast your time. San Juan is my Fav. Island and I wish they would add it back to the itinerary!
Cruising89143 Posted January 31, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted January 31, 2010 I agree that there is not much to do in Nassau but there is even less to do when the ship docks at seven in the morning and leaves at 1:00. I understand why RCI had to do this. Too many ships in Nassau on Saturday and really no room for the Allure. Hopefully down the road they can find a new port to replace Nassau.
