hartskys Posted February 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2010 We are traveling in May and would like to visit Hell then go to Seven Mile Beach and back to the ship. Is it true that the bus fees are $2 and does this mean this trip would cost $6?
drew sailbum Posted February 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2010 Bus fare is CI$2 for the West Bay bus. These three bus trips would total CI$6 (US$7.50) per person. Bus fares may be higher other for routes going to other parts of the island. On such routes, passengers pay up to CI$4 according to how far they travel. Generally route diversions can be requested for an additional CI$1.
hartskys Posted February 5, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted February 5, 2010 Thanks - how can we tell the difference between a bus and a taxi?
drew sailbum Posted February 6, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2010 The route buses have the route number and initials inside a colored circle. This is displayed on the front and back of the bus. WB = West Bay, which passes the full length of Seven Mile Beach on its way to the district of West Bay BT = Bodden Town, one of the eastern districts North Side = further east than BT and spanning the north side of the island. EE = East End, covers the eastern 30% or so of the island. GT = George Town, for some reason these are relatively few. The other routes cover most of GT on their way to the other districts. EE/NS = does a combination loop through both districts.
hartskys Posted February 6, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted February 6, 2010 Thanks - I'm going to copy this and take it with me. So if we were going to go to Hell -stop and send postcards and then on to Seven Mile Beach which one would you recommend we would go on?

drew sailbum Posted February 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2010 The website link has some good information. The most important thing it notes: "Schedules are, shall we say, flexible." Routes, such as they are, are flexible too. One important update. The bus depot is no longer by the library on Edward Street. The depot is now on North Church Street just north of the yellow Waterfront Centre building. Fares typically start at CI$2.00 (US$2.50). Fares go up depending on the distance travelled, particularly on the routes to Bodden Town, East End, or North Side. It is customary to pay the driver when exiting the bus. So do we just turn left after leaving tthe port tender area and walk down harbor drive which looks like it turns into north church street? Also want to verify if we take a bus from there to Cemetary Beach it would be 2.50US per person one way correct?

TheWog Posted March 8, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 8, 2010 We did exactly what you are looking to do and it was $10 pp at the pier (4 of us). Might be worth the extra $4 to have a taxi dedicated to just you and wait at Hell for you and drop you at the beach.
