Jaymee287 Posted February 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2010 I am planning on scrapbooking our cruise, we don't leave until June but I just have a rather odd question. Unless I have misunderstood all ports will take american dollars, but you will get foregin change back correct? We will be heading to the Western Caribbean and I would like to get at least $1.00 from each place we visit. Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, & Isla Roatan. Is the currency different in each of these ports? Are they dollar bills or coins, if I exchanged. I did this in Europe as well so it's sort of my thing lol. Thanks for the help
dk1 Posted February 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2010 All your itinerary accepts US currency and provides change in the same. If you wish to exchange for the local currency you may and you will pay a fee. Many of the cabbies and other uncontracted service providers will not give you change and appreciate the tip you gave them, so bring smaller bills when you go into town (Coz, G.Cayman...) Don't go into Belize City unless you know how to handle yourself. There is a reason that the security force carries M16s and the port area itself is fenced in. There is a nice local flavor tavern in the fenced area to go to for a nice respite. Take an excursion! Have fun dk
