You are not kidding about the ghost ship!!I posted a few Roll Calls too and got nothing. But I did manage to chat with RanchoVista who is going on the same cruise as we are but we met when they asked a question about RCCL vs Carnival. And it just so happened that we had both been on the RCCL ship adn we are now on the Spirit together.About 100 cabin away on the same floor.Nice:D .

We were looking at doing the dophin excursion in Ixtapa but I want to swim with wild dolphins not ones that are kept in the cage.My DH wanted to go deep sea fishing but is worried I will get sick no matter how much gravol I take.So....We are going on the Resort and Beach Break( all the stuff that is on the jeep excursion except no jeep ride)In Acapulco. In Ixtapa we are going to the Ixtapa Island get away( I have read some awesome comments on the this one,and the price is right). And last we are goiing on the Catamaran and Elephant rock and snorkel.( we had a fantastic time on the golden Eagle in the St Martin and got hooked on Catamaran's).We will be spending alot of time in the gym and the casino.Oh ,and my DH making a complete fool of himslf in the Scavenger hunt.On the Paradise we got a rob for his underwear( go figure).

We are so looking forward to the trip.it is sooo cold up here and way to much snow( 4.5 ft) and winters not over yet.

What are we going to do to kick start the cruiser that are going on the the Spirit?:)

Here in Prince George it is raining and the roads are ice with an inch of water on top. You are probably getting our cold weather from last week, it was-37C and now iti s 2C. We have only 5 on our roll call for April 2, where are all the people. Maybe the Spirit cruisers aren't as friendly as other ships , or else maybe all the Californian's ( I grew up there) don't have time for the boards. Most all the passengers on the Mexican cruises are from California, and if I lived so close I would cruise a whole lot more often. We know how much it costs just to get to the ship, when we go to the Western Caribbean, it costs more to get there than the cruise....Keep warm, and hope you enjoy your cruise... I am just two cruises after you, so let us know how your cruise was, and write a long review. Which deck are you on?

Your right BC is Gods country, except when the roads are icy and dirty. We moved to Prince George in September and I can't find a way to change my location ob this board...Bigger city but not as pretty as Terrace...I also have an extended balcony on the Verandah deck for April 2

I have an aunt that lives in Prince George on Auhbut Street( I hope I spelled that right) I don't know too much about that area though. We are hoping to get posted to Courtney this year but it is looking more like Edmonton or Cold lake Alta.EEEGad!!!!Isn't PG an industrial area with lot of logging and mining?

PG is a little of everything, being the Northern Capital of BC. At least we have 3 airlines to choose from, better chance of getting out that in Terrace, which had only Air Canada...Last time I cruised, was when AC was about to go under and I started to panic ( for nothing). Now I have West Jet and Jetsgo to get to Vancouver, only AC goes to LA. Courtney is nice, I like the Island too.

My Folks Sav and Barb live in Sidney on the Island. My favorite place to visit when I go home is the Collwood lagoon just south of Fort Rod Hill Park.Looks right on to the Pacific Ocean from the old wooden train bridge.I tried to get posted there before I left the CF but they sent me to WPG ( which really sucked).:(

Oh by the way, thanks for sending the warmer weather our way today it is going to -8 which is nicer then last night of -22 with windchill of -37.:D

We usually fly AC because of my brother and my father( they worked or are working for AC and we get a great deal on flights) but AC doesn't fly to SanDeigo so we went to Jet Vacation who are a travel warehouse and sell seats off cheaper and we'll be going Northwest( or as my brother puts it Northworst)I'll draw a conclusion after we fly.

Have you ever been on the Elation? My folks are going with my brother and his common-law( never cruised before) to the wetern Caribbean.I told about a friend that loved the cave tubing in Belize but I had no information on the Elation itself.:)

I was on the Elation in 1999, my frist Carnival cruise, and the ship was nice, just like the Paradise, which I loved when it was non-smoking...Any cruise is good..

We went on the Paradise too.In 2002 to the western Caribbean.Did not get to go to Belize though, the port authority closed the prot due to bad weather:( .But we had a great time in the Grand caymen. We went swimming with the stingrays(I found out I had a fobia that day). Then we went to Playa de Carmen.I got a picture taken with the guys carrying the C7's.I had to show him my ID that I was actually in the CF.Down the way his CO was watching him really close but hey what the heck I asked him to stand with me:D.We went to Talum and really enjoyed our selves.I loved the fact that the paradise was no smoking I really hate going home with stinky clothes.

I got a good laugh out of the people I used to work for when I managed the mcdonalds. On the dock in the PDC there was a Mcdonalds that had put there prices and then used the $ sign and not the pesos sign for the price.Well I have never seen a Big mac meal go for 54.00.I got a couple of copies made up and sent one of the Corporate HO and told them if they ever get a complaint about the prices being too high, send them a copy of this.LOL.:D

What can you tell me about the elation? does it have anything special on it? how was the dining room and on board Experience?:)

It was 5 years ago, but the diningroom looks just like the Paradise, the funny thing was that we were at the same table, just different ships...booth for 6. I had a great time on the Elation, it was my first Carnival cruise, so I had no expectations. Our cabin was U-25 and it was smooth up front. My Brother's family had a suite, and I don't think I was out on the balcony once, what a fool. Now I am hooked on balconies..That is why I have left that class of ships, too few balconies. Everyone on the staff was wonderful. I am sure that it has gone in for refurbishing...it is a great layout and a friendly ship...I loved Belize, however my favorite port is Roatan...I went swimming with the stingrays at Belize and in GC. Grand Cayman is better, and I used Nativeway. Coral Breeze in Belize is a great company if you ever get back there...the sun is out today and it is 7C..the ice is melting....

:( Well, glad to hear there are some of us out there...........and this one is from California............I just have had no luck in drumming up a single soul for this cruise 3/17/05...........for us it is the beginning of Spring Break.....so I expected to get some reply. I'm a native New Yorker, so I can relate to your wicked weather...........which is why I've lived in California for the last 20 years. We sailed the Elation two years ago............our first cruise......and still can't stop talking about what a great cruise it was and how we never had a real vacation until we cruised. The Elation is a great ship..........you hardly can tell she's sailing..........we had a great time. I'm hoping the Spirit is just as great.

We are still up in the air about doing a dolphin swim in Acapulco on our own at the CICI Waterpark.......recommended by Roberto from ACA Authority or doing the shore excursion offered by Carnival for the dolphin swim at I/Z. We want to see the divers in Acapulco for sure.

Still trying to find anyone with reviews on the turtle experience in Manzanillo??

When we were on the Elation, we winged on our own in PV and Cabo San Lucas and had a ball..........snorkeled, boat ride for 1/3 the price the ship charged. We booked Randi's Happy Horses in Mazatlan........on line before the cruise.....and it was the best experience we ever had. Randi is awesome and the food at Victors is to dye for.............anyone doing this shore excursion will definietly not be sorry.

Hope to hear more Spirit reviews soon....only 52 more days for me:)

The cruise on the Elation, changed me from a Club Med person to a cruiser...maybe something had to do with having 2 kids and maturing from the party kid to taxi mom... I really enjoy the cruise service and being waited on, however Club Med did have a lot to offer to the sports minded...But they didn't have a casino or Lobster... I'm hooked on Carnival!!!

Absolutely!I wrote two(oops) last year on the Spirit on the CC website reviews.I you read them you can tell I was just abit PO'd and swore that I would never cruise with Carnival again.But...thanks to our PVP Tori we changed our mind and are going back on her with the knowledge that they have gotten rid of alot of the problems. And Tori has set the mood meter so high I had to call Carnival and tell them how lucky we were to find her and how lucky they are to have her. They sent me a letter for a welcome aboard Gift( nice folks eh?)New cruise, new ports ,new memories. My old reviews are karen and john and J&k on the website. But stay tuned for the updated one when we get back.We are planning on doing this cruise a bit differently.Boy I wish I had known about CC before our last cruise!

My husband and I did the turtle excursion. It was $65 pp and included lunch by the beach. It was about a 45 minute ride form the Port. The Conservatory is outdoors, very "makeshift", no buildings. It's strictle devoted to saving the turtles. They did dig up turtles that were hatched and then let little kids put them in the ocean. Then you see a short video about turtles....THey take you to this beach where they have the usual requisite junk to buy, and lunch. Ceviche, great guacomole (I'm not a guac. eater even tho I make it myself) some taquitos--it was prettu good--this coming from someone who doesn't like Mexican.....Plus 2 drinks.. If you do decide to do the turtle xcursion, bring a beach towel. Beaches are nice. We went over New Year's, the 2nd time on the Spirit. We have come to expect lavish entertainment from Carnival when they have their production numbers. Both shows lasted about 30 minutes, the talent was there, but not the entertainment. Singers did 3 songs each, dancers about 1 number. No lavish costumes that we've come to expect from them.....Also, on all the other NYEve cruises, they load the jacuzzi w/ice and champagne. Not this one. surprising. THe Port in Manzanillo isn't great at all--you should find taxi drivers at the end of the pier. THere's really nothing to do in Manz unless you take a tour. Ixtapa was the best--go to a beach. Acapulco--don't bother with the town when you land there--go to a beach. We're from Los Angeles.

At both Acapulco and Manzanillo we got a taxi for ALL day for $100.

They took us to the usual sights and to the ones off the beaten tracks.

I told them to show us the sights as if we were family from out of town. They speak English but if you know some Spanish, it helps.

In both towns, the taxi drivers gave us some history and pointed out some sights not on the usual tours. Tell them what you are interested in and they will comply. It helps if you only give half at the start and the rest when they take you back to the ship.

In Manzanillo, don't miss the view from the "El Faro", the white tower atop the Santiago Peninsula.

In Acapulco we went to The Fort of San Diego and The Acapulco Historical Museum located inside the fort. We got a nice tour of some vacation homes where the rich stay. They are on the way to "Playa Marques". It is south and west of the city. The beach is nice and the water clear. There are also beach restaurants and the food and drinks were great. Before heading back to the ship, he took us to see the cliff divers.

In Zihuatanejo, downtown is within walking distance and we did some shopping. Then we got a cab ride to La Ropa Beach. You can see the Spirit from here. Taxis come and go from here and we got another back to the ship.

Just make sure you set your watch to local time.
