Laundry Question on Holland ship

HI, We are sailing on the Oosterdam to Alaska and there is no self-service laundry, but there is a sort of arrangement where you can send some clothes to be cleaned. I had a few questions, if someone can help :).

1. How much does this service cost?

2. Is this just dry cleaning?

3. Do you include any unmentionables (men's, primarily)

4. How long is the turn around for the clothes?

I appreciate any assistance!

Thanks!

1. It's per piece, or you can usually buy a laundry package, or a pressing package (I don't know the costs). There's usually a day where they run a special: all the laundry (not dry cleaning) you can put into a bag for $20-25. (You can get a bunch of stuff if you try!)

2. They do both laundering & dry cleaning

3. You can include anything launderable

4. Usual turnaround is about a day; half-day service is available at a surcharge.

HAL ships normally do an excellent job.

Hope this helps!

We've sailed twice ot Alaska on the Oosterdam - Sept. 2006 and June 2008. We always get the unlimited laundry package for a week and it is worth every penny! At those times, unlimited for the week cruise was $45.00, perhaps it has increased within the past two years, but that is a ballpark figure you can work with. Sign up for it immediately upon boarding at the front desk. They also had all you can fit into a bag laundry, that at the time was $12.00 per bag. Rather large bags and you can fit more in there than you think! Turn around time was usually a day, but many times less - we'd send it out in the morning, and then when we'd return to our cabin after an excursion in the late afternoon/early evening - there it was! Everything beautifully hung (even tee shirts - my DH was in heaven!), and the rest - socks, underwear, etc. folded nicely with tissue paper between each piece in a wicker basket. So worthwhile! We intend on using it again when we once again return to beautiful Alaska on HAL's new 14 day itinerary on May 31st. It helps so much for packing purposes that we will only pack enough clothes for one week, and take full advantage of the laundry service to keep luggage costs down on the flight. Hope this helps!
