I'm interested in getting two-way radios for my group traveling in March. Does anyone have a suggestion on which brand is a good one? Are they even worth purchasing? And also- we will be a party of 6- if we buy 6 radios (or 4) will they all be able to "talk" with each other? thanks for the help!

I've got a pair of Uniden walkies that are great. Found the pair on sale at Target for $30. I've used them at more than 4 miles apart and they come in pretty clear. They have a bunch of channels. Yes...all of you will be able to talk to each other as long as you are all on the same channel.

My wife and I are going on our first cruise in a couple of weeks but one thing I know you'll be able to expect is that there will be a lot of other people on your cruise that will have them as well, so before you head out, find a channel with the least amount of traffic on it so you can all sinc up to the same one.:D

Oh, and on that note, keep the personal stuff off of your walkies...because just like the 6 of you, anyone on the same channel can hear and communicate with you too.:)

HI, we have two way radios that work fairly well, but honestly we find them more bother than they are worth carrying around, I guess it all depends on how much you use them. Different strokes for different folks :)

I think if it's just you or a couple that will be together 24/7 than you don't need them, I guess. You can stroke all the different folks you want (j/k Cori ;) ) but with a group or if you and the signifigant other want to split up but stay in contact, I don't see anything bothersome about that. :D

BeachBum,

My wife and I have Motorolas that we bring on board. We use them at different times during the cruise. When she is getting ready for dinner (usually Second seating), I like to take a trip to the casino. She calls me when she is ready and I meet her back at the cabin. Also, if we're with friends, we give them one for their cabin and we have one. This way we can radio each other to find out times and places to meet. They really are a great commodity on a cruise. The only thing to watch is sometimes you will hear others with the same type radio on your frequency. There are enough channels on the radios for privacy.

Your party can talk to each other along with the other people that are on the same channel. If these are also for kids---pick another name other then mom or dad....the amount of kids asking for MOM? and all the moms answering was hysterical. Also, turn them off when in the shows or the dining room. On one cruise the bunch of teens behiund us thought it funny to carrying on a whole conversation with the other group of kids they met onboard.
