theduffys Posted February 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2010 :DHello Everybody. We're back to the HAL Board and are really excited. Just booked VA 4176 & VB 4178 for the Zuiderdam 10 day Panama Canal cruise Jan. 2,2011. Anyone stayed in these cabins? Can we open a door between the two verandas? The snow is piled so high here that it is good to have this warm cruise to think about.:D
shoppern Posted February 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2010 We took the same cruise 11-09, and it was great! Can't really answer your cabin question, as were in 8134, completely aft. We saw everything last, but saw it the longest!! I'm ready to go back. Have fun.:D
theduffys Posted February 19, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks. We are also completely aft--our favorite spot--but 4 decks down.
jtl513 Posted February 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2010 Yes, there is a section of the balcony divider that can be swung open between any two cabins on the Vista ships. Ask your steward to do it. We were in 4178 on the Noordam, which is not quite the same as the Zuiderdam for stern cabins on deck 5 to 8, but I believe is identical to the Zuiderdam on deck 4. We liked the 9.5 ft x 10.5 ft verandah on our VB, but some nights there were serious vibrations that kept me up most of the night. Other nights it was as smooth as could be! It was related to the speed of the ship, but there was more to it than that, as it was smooth on some "fast" nights.
theduffys Posted February 19, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks jtl. Will try to live through the vibration. Remember years ago when people wouild put quarters in motel beds to get that vibration?:D
