Seasickness on the ferry to Playa del Carmen - how bad?

We are going on a cruise next week and are booked on an excursion to the Tulum ruins from Cozumel. However, I've been reading a number of reviews discussing the rough ferry ride to Playa del Carmen and how everyone got sea sick, the a/c broke, etc. Is the ride really that bad? i can get a bit sea sick and will be armed with Bonine but will that be enough? And is Tulum worth the hassle? I don't want to be sick all day and then not get anything out of it. Thanks!

I don't know if there is more than one ferry to/from Playa del carmen... I get VERY seasick VERY easily..... and I had NO problems at all, never took my bonine, nothing. It moved fast, was a great ride. I was seated on the top deck, in the back left corner, and thoroughly enjoyed the ride. This boat docked right near Senor Frog's, down the main street to the highway from Playa.

Good luck!:)

I normally have NO problem with ferries but when I went I was very sea-sick:eek: along with 3/4's of the ferry passengers. I couldn't enjoy Tulum because I knew we had to return on the ferry. The trip back wasn't as bad though. When friends went they had no problems. Good luck ~ LU
