Room Location - OH NO!

Hello fellow cruisers,

Sailing on the Valor next month, second cruise. Made our reservations in June.

We reserved a guarantee room 6A category. Our room has been assigned, Riviera Deck near the front. This will be my friend's first cruise. What should we expect?

Have read there's more motion near the front even on the lower deck. Also the noise from the "thrusters", waves and anchors lowering can be very loud. The noise of the anchor can be a good alarm clock though. There's rooms above us so that's a plus. If the room is on the lower deck, it's best to have a midship room. On my last cruise in Feb. we were on the 8th Deck. No motion whatsoever. I felt it worse in the casino, theather, and dinning room which are on the lower decks. Thanks for your reply.

The cabin number is 1264 port side, right by the elevators.

Looks to me like your room is in a great location. I've never been on the Riviera deck but I've had a similarly located cabin higher up. I think it's very convenient. I don't think you will have any problem. Go and have a terrific time.

Hi Sharon,

You should start a new post for this question. You will get much more feedback. Just go to the Carnival posts and at the top of the page above the posts you'll see a box that says "New Thread".

Good luck!!:)

We had a 6A mid ship on the Riviera..redundant...sorry....loved our room.....SO nice and quiet with a big window.

That's great to hear. Wish our room was a little more mid ship though.

Hey,we have the same name!

Depends on when you are sailing..on the Victory in August we tried to keep the door opened but it was too darn hot outside- and the condensation build up on the ceiling rather quickly. Everyhting felt damp after that. I dont do it any more. Do you know your cabin number?? sometimes you will get a upper that folds out and a sofa bed for one.. Or just a sofa bed that folds down like a futon and a rollaway. it depends on the cabin number.

I wouldnt call 1264 a cabin that is very forward..I thought you meant you havd a cabin way up front-- now those cabins will be rudly awaken by the anchor only on a prot with a tender...not at any docking port.

As for 1264-- its a great location--very close to the elevators/stairs.

I've been in M6 and also in E1. (Now we're talking FRONT of the ship!):D Cabin 1264 isn't anywhere near the front. Good location, actually.

Hey Serene ... I've heard the anchor being dropped when docking - I've never tendered into any port. However, it isn't a biggie - just a coupla seconds of THUD.

As far as cabins we are very rarely in the room.. Other than sleeping.. Once its morning we are up and getting ready for the day.. we occasionally go back to the room to get stuff if needed but dont return until time to get dressed for dinner and then are off again until time for bed.. I think I could make the worst room work for me... :0)

Any comments about cabins 1422 & 1424 on the Valor?

http://www.carnival.com/Deck_Plan.aspx?shipCode=CQ&deckCode=1

are located on the aft...again-very close to the elevators/stairs.. also not a distance to any food. The only thing that is a distance from you is the show lounge. They are also connecting cabins

serene56, You are so friendly and helpful to everyone and seem to be in on all the info. I don't ask a lot of direct questions, mostly do a lot of reading but have taken all help on CC as if it were directed at myself where applicable, and you have definitely been one of the most helpful people on these boards IMO. I know this is off-topic, but I just wanted to point that out and say thank you.:D
