boaterette Posted March 3, 2010 #327 Share Posted March 3, 2010 Do all of you pj wearing people wear them down to the lobby in hotels? And lounge around there in them? Or is it just on cruises that you wear them?
breezycruiser Posted March 3, 2010 #328 Share Posted March 3, 2010 Do all of you pj wearing people wear them down to the lobby in hotels? And lounge around there in them? Or is it just on cruises that you wear them? It depends on what type of hotel it is. If it's something like a Hampton Inn and I was just going to grab a bottle of water or a snack then directly back to my room yes. If the hotel had a more formal environment no. The same goes on a cruise. If I'm going out for a few minutes to get something and am not planning on staying out I'm not going to get fully dressed. I'll throw on a hoodie over my tank top and slide on my flip flops but thats it until I get my shower.
newcatintown Posted March 3, 2010 #329 Share Posted March 3, 2010 So the breakdown of society continues- anything goes.TBut50---TT-YC??? Not to pick on you 5waldos, but you just happened to be handy at the moment. I don't think this issue has anything to do with the 'breakdown of society'. It is nothing more than the ever constant change of society. The 'rules' (if you will) are in a constant flux. Even more so, what is accepted where I live is just plain wierd to you on the very same day. By the way, I know NOT to wear white after Labor day, but, in all honesty, I have no idea when I can start wearing it again (not that I ever cared). OP, your outfit will be just fine for what you are wanting to do. Very early morning, most doing the same as you.

In2why Posted March 3, 2010 #331 Share Posted March 3, 2010 I hadn't really thought about this one way or another until reading this thread. My initial reaction is that no one should wear PJ's in public. But my daughter wears those flannel Pajamma pants darn near everywhere....so who am I to complain. My other thought is where does the quest for comfort stop? Formal nights are gone, Shorts, jeans, and anything goes in the dining room, curlers in the casino, robes everywhere, PJ's on deck, 300 lbs in bikinis, Manpris.......I can't imagine where this all ends.....Is anything off limits or beyond acceptable? bankerlkd Posted March 3, 2010 #332 Share Posted March 3, 2010 If you normally chase around in public in your pajamas' date=' run to Starbucks - free coffee in a hotel lobby, etc., then why not? In fact, why bother with pajamas; just throw on the robe and go. Cruising sure has changed since the Clampetts struck oil.....[/quote'] ...and I hope to see Ellie Mae in the fluffy heels and teddy...:D wear what you like, enjoy your coffee and cigs and your relaxing vacation with your GF

TnMama Posted March 3, 2010 Author #334 Share Posted March 3, 2010 I would consider PJ's consisting of capris and T-shirt as lounge-wear and if you aren't lounging on the serenity deck with a cup of coffee what is it??? If everyone would worry less about what other people are or aren't doing or wearing, they would have a more enjoyable cruise! As such, if I were you I would not worry what other people think and enjoy your cruise your way. HERE! Here!!!! Yes, to my understanding its Easter to begin wearing White shoes again. Once my feet hit my size 11's, I avoid white shoes! lol. Sherry, You wanna have coffee with me and Michelle? We'd love to have ya!!!:p KurbanFan, I asked b/c I was wondering if I was going to be the only one, and yes, if ppl would GASP at me. Ive learned some will, some wont.:) Leave the redhat ladies alone! lol. I think its cool! Lemur ~ ROFLMAO!!! YOure too much! Nunu~ honey, you aint right!;)
kujobie Posted March 3, 2010 #335 Share Posted March 3, 2010 There's a fine line between pj's and "clothes". If I can hang out on Lido in basketball shorts and a Megadeth t-shirt, why can't a woman do so in cotton capris and a tank top? This is really a non-issue for me. I wouldn't look down on you, OP, unless I was on the deck above.. :)
MamaTene Posted March 3, 2010 #336 Share Posted March 3, 2010 Lounging pajamas are simply that....Perfect for LOUNGING! And the Serenity area fits the bill as the number one place to lounge! Go for it! I sail on Glory in April and fully intend to do the same!

"Nana, if you spent half your time minding your own business and the other half staying out of mine, We would both be happier" To TNMAMA, It will be fine. Enjoy your early morning coffee and smokes. AND thanks for being considerate of your roomie with your smokes!
LemurCat Posted March 3, 2010 #338 Share Posted March 3, 2010 Do all of you pj wearing people wear them down to the lobby in hotels? And lounge around there in them? Or is it just on cruises that you wear them? I generally don't lounge around in hotel lobbies. Hotel bars, perhaps, but I wouldn't wear my pjs to a bar. Have I gotten continental breakfast in my awesome flannels-and-hockey jersey ensemble? Yup.

5waldos Posted March 3, 2010 #350 Share Posted March 3, 2010 According to Stacy on What Not to Wear, white after Labor Day is fine:p Well in that case........ The original custom was after Memorial Day, before Labor Day. Summer. At least in the US. Have no idea what it was in Europe- maybe they never wore white shoes. Or in the southern hemisphere for that matter. As far as the tropics- never did figure it out.
