Port of Miami Car Rental???

just a follow up.

flew into FLL, rented a large van from Thrifty. Ate locally

(Southport raw bar, little local bar that had a nice casual

lagoon side seating area -> good food... not GREAT but real

GOOD) then drove to our hotel in Miami.

next day dropped everyone off at terminal B/ Port of Miami,

returned the van to Thrifty / 42nd St (Laguene?) and Thrifty

had a nice shuttle right back to the Port.

on the return, I rented a large van from Alamo, and Alamo had

a very nice large bus waiting right at the terminal. My family of

6 and 1 other couple took the express debarkation from Carnival,

and we were at the Alamo counter at the airport by 9AM.

Overall a GREAT experience with both companies.

I rented a car from Enterprise at the Miami airport when I went on my cruise in May. They allowed me to drop off the car with no extra charges at the Hyatt Regency Miami Enterprise office which is located at 400 Se Second Avenue, 5 minutes from the port. I was also given ride to the port. Enterprise provided me with excellent customer service and I would highly recommend renting from them.

I am looking for car rental from the port after completion of cruise. Anyone have recent experiences with shuttles - Alamo seems cheaper than Hertz and wondering if its worth saving the $$$ or if I will have a hassle... Anyone know if Budget has a shuttle?

I realize there is info above in this thread but I am looking for more recent experiences. Thanks.

Hi everyone. We booked a cruise for next Feb. leaving from Miami ( new NCL Jewel) and am having second thoughts. Beleive it or not- here in NY there is only ONE AIRLINE that flys direct to Miami (AA) and they want $381.00 for a ticket!

..

Where in NY are you leaving from? Continental also flys direct to Miami airport so does some delta and NW flights.

Rent a car. Hertz offers shuttles from the pier

Hertz has a downtown Miami location that will drop you off at the ship and pick you up when you get off. If for any reason Hertz can not pick you up, they will reimburse you up to a certain dollar amount for a cab (unlikely to happen, but its their policy.)

Hertz is currently opening many local neighborhood locations that all offer one-way rentals to the port so you can avoid paying parking fees. In my opinion this is the easiest way to go.
