jamstew Posted March 10, 2010 #26 Share Posted March 10, 2010 My cost for a week on my next cruise is $1000, and the only thing I can compare it to is a Disney trip, staying onsite in a deluxe resort. Room is a minimum of $1700/week (non-discounted), 7-day park ticket is about $250, and food for me is about $60 a day. So $850 (1/2 lodging) + $250 ticket +$420 food for a total of $1520. For me, Carnival is a great value, (although at Disney there's no casino for me to throw money at :D).

Calker Posted March 10, 2010 #29 Share Posted March 10, 2010 My husband and I do take other vacations, a week in New York, a week in Las Vegas, etc., but we keep coming back to crusing because we do feel we are getting our money's worth. We know we could get better food at most restaurants in New York, and yes we could see better shows in Las Vegas with "named" stars headlining, but when we compare all of the costs, we feel the Carnival cruise experience is worth every cent we pay. We will continue to cruise as often as we can.
CruizinMom2c Posted March 10, 2010 #30 Share Posted March 10, 2010 We always do...we make the best of every vacation. Enjoy the shows...food...gym..sports..casino....ports. So we definitely explore everything on the ship.

poobears Posted March 10, 2010 #32 Share Posted March 10, 2010 We priced all inclusives, flying and renting a place etc. Cruising is definitely the best bargain for us since we don't drink, would be a waste at an all inclusive. Flights are high from here and so is rental, food etc to places we like. That being said we also get our moneys worth from Disney and other land vacations. We are making memories, creating bonds and just having a good time. Can't put a monetary value on that.
TamLaiSang Posted March 10, 2010 #33 Share Posted March 10, 2010 I'm not sure I did get my moneys worth... but that says more about me than it does about cruising.:D It's hard to know if you will like something until you try it. As many here have pointed out...in comparison with other vacation types, it is relatively inexpensive to try out.
chachi Posted March 10, 2010 #34 Share Posted March 10, 2010 I think that Carnival offers are great product for an exceptional price. I definately get my moneys worth. If I didn't, I wouldn't keep booking with them!
MpwdMom Posted March 10, 2010 #35 Share Posted March 10, 2010 Only one cruise so far....and yes, it was an excellent value - the trip, accomodations, food, visiting the islands. The only thing lacking was great entertainment. But we understood that going in...after seeing big concerts - Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney - numerous times, we didn't expect much. So we weren't disappointed.
dan40 Posted March 11, 2010 #36 Share Posted March 11, 2010 So over 35 on other lines. Hmmmm  Well I'm an old fart so I did cruises before there WAS a Carnival Cruise Line. I don't buy only one kind of car, I don't shop at only one store. I don't go to only one restaurant. I also do land vacations. I didn't go to only one school, hmmm, OK I had no choices there!:D
