MIKES3 Posted March 22, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2010 Does anybody have any suggestions on some nice beaches in Antigua and inexpensive activities? Thank you! -Aly Check these beaches out online. I dont think you'll be dissapointed. As far as inexpensive goes. Nothing is cheaper than relaxing with one cocktail in your hand. I usually like to double fist :D , but what are you looking to do and what is your idea of inexpensive? MrsFussy Posted March 22, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2010 Having been to antigua 7 times now , we strongly recommend Half Moon (east o fteh island) as the best beach - nothing there apart from stunning water and sand. Surf gets up mostdays so get a body board and have fun ...it's truly gorgeous there. We go to Darkwood (south) as that has great reefs for snorkelling just of the beach. Longbay is a nice beach with good amenities that's north east , snorkelling is not that good. However, bear in mind that Antigua does have 365 beaches , it's truly a lovely island. Re activities : snorkelling as before, walking and visit Shirley Heights for a fantastic view of Nelsons Dockyard from on high. Then go visit it for not a lot of money but so much history and . ENjoy - this is a brilliant website so do have a look http://www.antiguanice.com/ regards Helen
seashinesunshine Posted March 22, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2010 We loved Ft James, beach, not much there but sand and sun, at one end is the ruins of Ft James, that you can walk thru etc. We also enjoyed the Farmers Market and Fish Market. Very fun to watch them clean and sell the fish. It is a nice walk thru the city to the market, not to far. Ask for directions when you get off the ship. oh, also behind the fish market there is a grocery store. We went there and bought tons of spices, jerk seasoning, curries etc, very cheap. I filled a grocery bag for about 25$.
