Formal Dining on Celebrity in Europe

We're getting ready for our first family cruise in June on the Celebrity Equinox in the Eastern Mediterranean. Our DS are 12 and 8 and DD 4.

After the cruise, we'll spend a few days in Rome and then take the train to Venice so are very concerned about keeping luggage to a minimum.

I've read all the posts I could find on formal night dining, but not many that apply specifically to Europe... is it dressier than most?

I understand even chinos and a polo shirt will be accepted, but without jackets, will my boys stick out? They'd love to take jackets (or even a tux), it's just the luggage volume I'm concerned about. Especially on the train!

Has anyone noticed the children's attire on the Celebrity Mediterranean cruises?
