AllAboard Posted March 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2010 We're concerned that several of the downtown Mobile hotels are saying that their garage facilities have clearance of "about 7'5" ", although most of the hotels we've called had to put us on hold, and really weren't sure about their answers. I get the impression that many of the hotels use public garages. We drive a van that has a customized roof, and it stands right about 7ft 7in. Does anyone know of a hotel/garage, in the downtown area that can accommodate vehicles that are a little taller than usual? We'd love to get one of those hotel stay and park packages, but it's hard getting firm answers on the parking facilities. Surely, we're not the only ones traveling in a slightly-bigger-than-normal vehicle. Where do all the people with trucks, small campers, etc. park? Thanks! The Radisson Admiral Semmes uses the county owned garage located behind it. The Renaissance Riverview uses the adjacent garage which is owned by the Retirement Systems of Alabama, who also owns the hotel. You may end up having to park at the convention center parking lot which is the overflow lot for the cruise terminal, or pay extra to park an over sized vehicle at the terminal parking garage. Parking in downtown Mobile is a real PITA.
AllAboard Posted April 6, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted April 6, 2010 Thanks. The Renaissance Riverview can't accommodate us in their garage either. This is becoming a rather frustrating issue because most of the hotels we called aren't even sure what their garage clearance is. And once they try to find out, they're not even really sure. When we ask where we might be able to park if we can't fit in the garage, we can't seem to get an answer to that either. I'm finding this whole subject rather difficult....we've been driving this van for a couple of years, and have never had such an issue anywhere we went except a couple of garages in New York City.
