How does this work ? Thanks !!

.....to first be picked to compete. On the entry you will put down the ingredients of your concoction and the name of it. If your entry is picked (my contest was 4 people) then you will be brought to the Lido deck to make your drink and have the celebrity judges try them and then vote on them.

I won on the Inspiration last September. All the entrants received 4 drink coupons and I, the winner, received a Funnel hat and they sold my drink for the remainder of the cruise.

Were you able to pick any ingredients or did you have a list to choose from?

.....of different liquors, mixers, etc. that you will be able to use. Then you can pick whether you want a regular drink (whole ice) or a frozen drink (crushed ice).

I will tell you that my drink was called the Pterodactyl. I won't give you the ingredients though because I currently have a patent in the works, and besides, I might decide to try that same one again this year.

Good Luck to all of you.

When and where do you get the entry form and list of ingrediants?

.....in the NEW Capers (I forget what the revamped one is called). They'll tell you where to go to enter. The contest should be either the first or second day depending on the length of the cruise.

They did this on my recent cruise and I had never seen it before. There were 5 entrants and the one that one made something called a Jolly Rancher. The rest of the cruise her drink was featured as was her name. The bar manager was a judge and then two girls on bikinis that "had" to be up there also judged...it was on the first sea day before the Hairy Chest contest :) They brought out a full bar and contestants were able to use whatever they needed to make their drink then each judge tasted the drink and gave the a score 0-10 for a total perfect score of 30

Actually when I took part in Sept, it was not a full bar. You can choose one strong poor (vodka, rum etc), up to two Liquors (creme de menthe, etc) and any number of mixers (juice, soda etc). You meet ahead of time and they bring out what everyone needs. The name is important. On our cruise the bar manager, the social host and one cruiser were the judges.

Have fun!!!!

2 questions: 1 Had you made your drink ahead of time or did you make it up on the ship and 2 Did you get to drink for free the rest of the cruise??:D

the night before the contest when I was on the Glory, at the casino bar, the bartenders were vigilant in trying to get people to enter, so I would look at the bar if you want to be a part of the contest. The entry form is just a list of ingredients, and you have to circle what's in it and write the name at the top. the drink that won on our cruise was the "help me Rhonda,"... it was awful. Haha.;)

We got to be buddies with the guy that won on our last cruise. We all agreed that there's two carnival people and one guest on the judge panel for a reason. The drink that wins must be sellable and marketable. And in general, it seems the frozen concoction gets the leg up. Strength of the drink doesn't seem to be as important.

My advice would be to think fruity, banana-y, and rum based and frozen with a clever, slightly risque name.

(Edited to fix that funny typo! Sorry 'bout that!! lol!)

My friend was a participant on Inspiration in March. They were announcing the contest over the PA that morning and she signed up about an hour before. She didn't win but she had a great time. She got to drink the drink she made, got 1 free drink coupon and the recipe book. In this case as well, the drink that won was a frozen one.
