Seems everyone needs drugs now to do their job. How safe do you feel bringing your family onto any large vessel whether it be a ship or airplane knowing its now ok for those in command to medicate themselves? I hope they are not going to "medicate themselves".
barracudas_two_bee Posted April 3, 2010 #27 Share Posted April 3, 2010 only my two cents its fine with me if they need anti depressant then rock on at least they had the courage to go to the doctor and get help because look at how many people walk around in denial or don't want to admit they have a problem and that's when accidents and catastrophe happen. people afraid how they will be judged. RossTheBoss Posted April 3, 2010 #28 Share Posted April 3, 2010 I'm all for people taking the medications they need to be healthy, including pilots and cruise ship captains. I would however expect that they should be required to inform their company doctor what medication they are on and that they not be allowed to work if the side-effects produce relevant impairment such as drowsiness, forgetfulness etc.
driftingaway2017 Posted April 3, 2010 #29 Share Posted April 3, 2010 I believe that they definately should be able to take medications for depression, just like they would if they had any other illness. As far as side effects go, all medication carry risks of side effects.
DreadPirateRobert Posted April 3, 2010 #30 Share Posted April 3, 2010 Frankly, given the behaviors of some of the passesngers I'm surprised more of the staff isn't medicated. :D
