Carnival

We're all hoping the the "malecon" (the main street in Cozumel that borders on the water) will be done in time for the Carnaval parades this year. The parades normally run from the Palacio (close to Chedraui) down to the airport road & back again. The first parade is scheduled for Saturday at 6:00 pm. That's the "warmup", the next parade is Sunday night at 6pm. Keep in mind that activities here don't usually start promptly at a certain time. The "children's parade" is on Monday and is scheduled to start at 4pm. The "BIGGIE" is Tuesday night at 6pm and goes on for hours and hours, but usually isn't very well organized, so it drags on for a while. Just when you think it's over, here come the next 10 floats. That's also when they have the fireworks when the parade starts coming back into town from the turnaround at the airport road.

Anyplace you can find an open spot along the parade route will be a great place. All the hotels along the route that have a balcony or view have been booked solid since last year. We're all just hoping & praying that the street will be ready.
