BCV23 Posted April 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2010 Was thinking of doing Carnival Dream or Freedom on RCCI but ran across the Pearl and the Epic. The Pearl is booking 199 third and fourth person so the price is really good with a western itinerary. I would love to try the Epic but we have done the Eastern itinerary before so we prefer the Western this time around even though the Epic looks great. We have done two Disney cruises and LOVED them both. A couple of questions. We will have four kids with us ages 6, two ten year olds and a 16 year old. Does the Pearl have a waterslide or kids play area? Also- is this a good ship for this age group? Also- does this ship have th NICK theme with characters etc.??? Thank you Thank you for any help. Fairydust312 Posted April 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2010 We were on the Pearl last week. It does have a water slide, but it's a bit slow and does not empty into a pool. My daughter, who is almost 5, liked it a lot. There is a kids pool, but it is covered and isolated from the pool deck. It has a small, shallow pool with a small elephant-shaped slide. There also are some non-water features like see-saw type things to rock on. It's really more suitable for little ones. Our cruise was not Nick themed (no characters), though some of the kids club activities were Nick-based (there was a Dora the Explorer thing and they showed Spongebob a lot). Can't really speak to the appeal for older kids, but everyone we saw seemed to be having a great time (there were groups of teens hanging around together that seemed to have met each other on board). Sooners Posted April 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2010 My kids have been on Disney, the sister ship of the RCI Freedom of the Seas and the Pearl. They loved them all. I think they would enjoy the Pearl.
