meatball77 Posted April 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2010 The players are Me, Hot Husband and Mini-Meatball (6). We all cruised the Conquest out of Glaveston two years ago so we were familiar with Carnival and the basic layout of the ship. We left from Detroit on Sat very late. The tickets we bought with miles used less in first class for some reason so we didn't even have to wait to see if we were going to be upgraded. Mini-meatball is getting spoiled sitting in first class. It took an hour for our luggage to arrive. We're not happy with the northwest/delta merge. We stayed at the airport Marriott garden inn. It was very nice, but we were only there a few hours. We took a shuttle to the airport and mini-meatball got to ride for free. Embarkation took about an hour and we were off to the fish and chips and to enjoy the sun. The decor in the Glory was much nicer than the decor on the Conquest. Much more subdued and not as flashy/tacky. There were areas that made you wonder what the designers were thinking (the fabric for the seats in the theater) but for the most part it was very nice. meatball77 Posted April 15, 2010 Author #2 Share Posted April 15, 2010 We headed for dinner in the Platinum dining room. We were seated at a table for eight by the windows. We were seated with a single dad (probably 45) traveling with his two kids (9 and 11) and his parents (probably around 70). Our table mates were nice enough but it would have been nice if they'd set us up with someone that was closer to our age. It was a little like having to go to dinner with your inlaws every night. Our water was Rama (I think) from India and he was very nice. Our service wasn't the fastest but I think that was more because we all ordered every starter on the menu than because of him. Some food pics from the first night
