It would appear that we are on the same curise...have you joined our roll call?

While Victoria is generally not thought of as a fishing hot spot there is certainly a lot of fishing done out of Victoria and Sooke which is just above Victoria. In early May the Chinook (king) salmon fishery is pretty good as well as halibut. I am sorry I can't recommend a charter service to you but perhaps someone will know of one; failing that there is a large number of charters listed that can be found by doing a search.

yes i have joined the roll call and have done lots of searching for charters in the Victoria area and have narrowed the selection down to two, one is Island Outfitters and the other is Foghorn charters, just wondering if anybody had any experience with either of these. We will not be going to the kenai penisula this year, first time in about 7 years and i am having a fishing jones going on......

I would ask if Island Outfitters is a broker or do they have there own boats. With Foghorn you know what you are getting plus they are easy to get to from the cruise terminal. I will make a couple of inquiries and see if I can come up with some other names...my son has guided professionally and he may know someone and I do know another guy who I think may still be guiding...I will come back on this.

i believe that Island outfitters is both a broker and in addition they also own there own boats.... They do however have the capability to have the fish processed and then shipped out. as i sure that fish is not allowed back on to the cruise ship.. any guidance on this would be helpful. i know that there are good chaters and bad charters so any local knowledge would be appreciated..

The guy that I know in Victoria is no longer guiding and my son has guided out of Vancouver and the Queen Charlotte Islands and has no contacts in Victoria. However my Victoria friend has given me tha name and number of an excellent guide so if you want to send me an email at the address below I will be happy to share the information with you.
