amjespersen Posted April 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2010 It seems like it isn't a problem to bring a 12 pack of soda on the boat. I have heard that I can attach a luggage tag on it and they will put it in my room, but I have also heard that I need to carry it on. What should I do? Thanks guys! Sweet_Tea Posted April 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Carnival clarified the rules a few days ago and you can only bring 1 - 12pk of non-alcoholic drinks per person and they must be in your carry-on.
itchin2cruz Posted April 20, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I was on the valor last week. People were carrying on 24 packs and it doesn't necessarily have to be in your carryon...
Sweet_Tea Posted April 20, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I was on the valor last week. People were carrying on 24 packs and it doesn't necessarily have to be in your carryon... These changes were made very recently, in the last couple of days. I even called Carnival to confirm these changes - which they say were not changes, only a clarification - and those are the new rules. I had planned on bringing a case of Diet Dr. Pepper and a case of water and check them in with my luggage, but they will keep them now and return them at the end of the cruise. :( 1 12-pk per person and you must carry it on. Bummer, ehh?
itchin2cruz Posted April 20, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I called Carnival last Sunday before I boarded and was told we were allowed only one 6 pack per person but people were bringing on far more than that, including me
itchin2cruz Posted April 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2010 They tell you that you can't smuggle on liquor or beer either but you can lol.
Sweet_Tea Posted April 20, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Here is a thread that talks about it: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1182477&highlight=soda The policy was changed - uhh, clarified, lol - while you were on your cruise. You were one of the last lucky ones. :)
itchin2cruz Posted April 20, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I completely understand what you are saying lol. I'm just saying just because it says you can't doesn't mean you can't... that's all.
Sweet_Tea Posted April 20, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Exactly. I'm thinking of just checking in my Diet Dr. Pepper and pleading ignorance. ;) I have to have my Diet DP, it courses through my veins and Carnival only sells Coke products. That's like telling a serious coffee drinker that they can't have any coffee on the cruise but they can enjoy a tall glass of Metamucil or a steaming hot cup of Malt-O-Meal instead. :D
itchin2cruz Posted April 20, 2010 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I know of many people who got beer and soda on in their checked luggage with no problem. Even with enhanced scanners and spring break. I was told only a 6 pack of soda but people were carrying on cases and cases without a word said. itchin2cruz Posted April 20, 2010 #11 Share Posted April 20, 2010 you can even buy it in ports of call and bring it on no problem.
Donray Posted April 20, 2010 #12 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Just don't complain when trhat don't allow you to get it on the ship.
conchead Posted April 20, 2010 #13 Share Posted April 20, 2010 That policy, does not say it has to be in a carry on. The bottle of wine must be, but it does not say about the non alcoholic beverages, it also does not state the size of the 12 n/a beverages.
