Deck Plan Question - Crown Princess

On all the decks from Emerald to Aloha, there is a short hallway in the very back of the ship on both the port and starboard sides between the last regular cabins and the aft cabins. At the end of those hallways there is a door that leads to a gray area. Does anyone know what this is? Is it an emergency stairway? Does the crew use it?

Thanks!

WE were in B748 on Crown which is the last aft cabin, located at the end of the little hallway on the plan. The door leads to an emergency stairway which was opened during muster practice.

Exactly right. Imagine my surprise when I opened the cabin door to head to the muster drill and a crew member scared the*snot* out of me by saying "Right this way".... Of course I was looking in the direction I thought I was going to go.
