Astro Posted June 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Does anyone know if any of the Royal Caribbean ships have fresh water pools. We love swiming and prefer freshwater pools. Thanks Erik
AdrieneAGD Posted June 1, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2004 As far as I am aware, all pools on RCI ships are salt-water. However, they do have a freshwater shower near most pools so you can wash the salt-water "crud" off of your skin so you don't feel crusty afterwards. Matisse05 Posted June 1, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Actually the Explorer is freshwater. There's been a thread discussing it within the past few days. If I find it again, I'll let you know. Astro Posted June 1, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted June 1, 2004 That would be great. For us this is actually a big factor in selecting a ship. Thank you much.

Matisse05 Posted June 1, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Found it. It's titled "Back From Explorer" posted by Ollie_Wa. I'm so glad she noted that. Stormy256 Posted June 1, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Note the quote below from a passenger aboard the 2-Day Cruise on the Jewel of the Seas.
quote:
Jewel of the Seas has two swimming pools, plus an expansive children deck with slide and wading pool. The main outdoor pool on deck 11 is a favorite haunt for the young at heart, with music and entertainment throughout the day, two trendy pool bars, a nicely sized pool and twin Jacuzzis. Incidentally, both swimming pools on Jewel of the Seas are filled with fresh water (not sea water), can be heated and - just like the Jacuzzis - are open around the clock.

Check out his link for more Jewel information from the person who made the above quote and his wonderful pictures. http://home.tiscali.nl/~t411310/indx.htm Majesty of the Seas 07/00 Vision of the Seas 07/01 Adventure of the Seas 11/02 Jewel of the Seas 11/
Matisse05 Posted June 1, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Hi Lunyma, Great photos! Hopefully Ollie_Wa isn't allergic to something else rather than the chlorine. There was another thread as well from 2 weeks ago, but I can't remember the title. Oh well. Freshwater or salterwater, I'm getting in. UnixGuy38 Posted June 1, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 1, 2004 I can't speak for any other, but the Explorer had fresh water pools last week. It was quite a surprise since I was expecting salt. Matt
SondraC Posted June 1, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 1, 2004 I was also on the Explorer last week, and the pools were freshwater. Sondra
garnetjanet Posted June 1, 2004 #11 Share Posted June 1, 2004 I had heard on these boards not too long ago that RCCL was experimenting with freshwater pools on the Explorer. Glad to know it is true. I am hoping they will continue to try this on other ships (especially in the same class). We are sailing on the Mariner in August, and I would LOVE it if at least one of the pools were freshwater!!! If I had known for sure at the time we booked that the Explorer would have a freshwater pool, we probably would have picked that ship instead. My family would just prefer swimming in freshwater on the ship, since we get our fill of saltwater at the beaches we visit when we get off the ship. crjohn Posted June 7, 2004 #12 Share Posted June 7, 2004 We were pleasantly surprised to find the solarium pool filled with fresh water on our February cruise on Explorer.
