Just bring two of those sachel-type CB radios with the little whip antennas and double battery packs. They're a bit unwieldly, but you can communicate through double steel armor. But tuck them alongside your chair at dinner with the squelch turned down a little bit. They strap on your back for shore excursions.

Cell phones work in some port but it depends on your service and the service that is in port. I have Verizon and I could only use mine while in Miami.

Walkie Talkies:

If you are in a large group they can be helpful. Agreed, get the ones with vibrate, lots of sub channels and avoid using the alert. If you have younger kids be careful, my son lost our the first day and no one ever turned it back in.

If you child is in the kids club..they can use it it call you to sign them out, it sure beats having your child wailing until you go and get them

The fact of the matter is whether or not you bring them you WILL see and hear lots of others with them.

Keep in mind the Voyager is a huge ship. Running around trying to find your family or friends will take a huge amont of time and you will be pooped prior to ever finding them.

While in port is will be quite helpful as long as you are in range of each other.

Also if you purchase them, you will get other uses out of them:

Amusement parks

Shopping malls

etc.

In otherwards if you think they will be helpful, go ahead......

We were on the 6/27 VOS to Canada and used ours. They worked great. Yes, there are certain parts of the ship you couldn't use them but normally they worked great. Got our from Radio Shack for about $50. They have private channel - vibrate, etc.

If you're not obnoxious or a complete idiot you'll have no problems using them. Just be considerate to others.

Have a great cruise
