Eastern Car. excursion questions

I am going on the Carnival Valor 5/8/05 (eastern car.), and was wondering if anyone knew what kind of excursions are offered at each port (Nassau, St. Thomas, St. Maarten). I was trying to look for cheaper prices than what Carnival offers for their excursions. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know. Thanks!

There are usually tours at the port that you can purchase directly from the tour operator and many have websites that allow you to book ahead of time. They are all similar to the one's offered by Carnival which you can research on their website, but usually cheaper. We are beach/snorkel people, so when we did that itinerary last year, we just took local cabs to beaches in Nassau and St. Thomas. That allows you to come and go when you want, not according to a tour schedule. Cabs are plentiful at all popular beaches and tourist areas. In St Maarten, we rented a car, again for flexibility and price it was worth it. We like to research the ports ahead of time, study maps, etc. Then when we get there, we're comfortable striking out on our own.

If you do want to use an organized tour, check the ports of call board on this website, or get a guidebook or check official/government/tourism board websites for the port you are visiting to get info on who does what.

Here's a post I posted for someone earlier. It's not a complete list...just what they were asking about...and Carnival's prices.

Nassau:

Blue Lagoon with snorkel 39

Discover Atlantis & Harbor cruise 45

Pearl Island Stingray encounter 49

St. Thomas:

Journey through paradise 35

best of st thomas island tour 39

megans bay and paradise point 35

st john trunk bay beach and snorkel 49

ultimate island experience 39

St. Martin:

Divi little bay beach experience 38

pinel island snorkel tour 49

See and sea island tour 49

shipwreck cove snorkel tour 52

Hope this helps...that's all that was listed. We did Coki on our own, we were going to go to St. John Trunk Bay on our own but the ships tours were cancelled due to it being too rough...the snorkeling at Coki was pretty decent. There is no snorkeling at Megan's Bay, and the people I talked to that went to Megan's Bay said it was very dirty and polluted.

St. Martin we did Orient Beach....beautiful absolutely beautiful beach with great waves to play in, no snorkeling.

Nassau we only did the straw market and shopping because it was sweatshirt weather...not beach weather :(
