Excursions from The Dream

Recommended Posts

We went on three excursions from our cruise last week so here are our impressions of them.

We didn't dock at La Goulette as there was a Force 8 gale blowing.

Naples - We went to Herculaneum instead of doing Pompei. It was only a half day excursion which was good as it was 32 deg! You got a really good impression of what Roman life was like in 79AD as a lot of the structures have been uncovered. The guide was good if a bit long winded. 8/10

Sardinia - We wouldn't recommend going on the Old Time Train as it was £59 each and definately not worth the money. For anyone who has done the train to Soller in Majorca this doesn't come close. 5/10 :(

Toulon - Didn't do an excursion but just went into town on our own. The Sunday market was on so that gave us a bit of a feel for the place. All the colours and smells of the stalls was amazing. 7/10 :)

Barcelona - Did the Sporting Barcelona trip which was good. The guide was informative and we didn't get bored listening to him. The coach initially took you round the Sagrada Familia, the Olympic village then through the city to the Camp Nou. Afterwards the coach took us to a veiwpoint but unfortunately it was quite cloudy so we didn't get a good view of Barcelona. You then got the opportunity to get dropped off near Las Ramblas to do your own thing and catch the shuttle bus back to port.

9/10 - especially if you are a Barca fan! ;)

Yes we had a great time. Very different from our usual package holiday. We would definately go again and would love to go on the Dream to the Caribbean, simply because we would know where everything was and the have an itinerary that appeals to us. Give yourself a day or day to get comfortable with your surroundings and I'm sure you will enjoy it.
