First Mexican Riveria Cruise/Carnival excursions

Hey all, first post here. I've gone cruising before but it's been a few years. I'm going for the first time on Carnival this December and have a question about a Carnival excursion to Cabo San Lucas - the "Exclusive Resort Beach Getaway".

The cruise price for the excursion is almost 90 USD per person which seems kind of pricey and adds up QUICK for a family of 4.

However the amenities offered might be worth the price as it says it includes the use of the pool, spa and resort amenities, including a wading pool for kids, lunch, beach chairs, etc.

However, having not been to Cabo before I wonder if there are other resorts that you can go to that will allow use of their pool/amenities that would be less expensive?

Has anyone done this excursion that recommends - or doesn't recommend - it?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

We went to Tesoro hotel by the Marina. They are not on beach, but they do have a pool. You can use their facility for free if you buy foods.

Thanks for the reply. I am seriously thinking this kind of thing is a better idea than spending almost 400 to lounge at the beach. Plus, the cruise ship has a pool, so...

Is it possible to rent beach umbrellas and lounge chairs though? Some shade on the beach might be good if we're there for a couple of hours, which I expect we will be.

If you want to stay on the beach, just go early to Medano Beach. You can go by water taxi, it is about $ 3 per person one way. They have some resturants and some lounger where you can sit and relax. You can rent jet ski, do banana boat and such.

or you can go to Lover Beach for $ 10 RT per person, but at Lover Beach, there are not facility or resturant. Beautiful beach though.

In any of the 3 main ports you can take a cab or city bus to a resort hotel. As mentioned you can hang out and use their facilities for free as long as you eat and drink there. Most have other activities such as Jetskis, parasailing, etc. right on their beach, especially the ones in MZT. One tip- most of the beaches have very aggressive vendors hawking cheap souvenirs and jewelry (though ladies have fun for awhile with that). Most hotels have a roped-off area where the vendors are not allowed. Stay behind the ropes if you don't want to be bothered.

A cab from the ship to the resort hotels in MZT and PV are about $10 one way (tipping is not customary though they will act like it is if you're a Gringo who doesn't know better). City buses are usually less than $1...all these prices are USD. Cab drivers will take dollars or pesos; buses only pesos. Any local will be very helpful making sure you get on the correct bus.
