Host Kewlguy Posted June 23, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2010 Is it possible to take a ferry from Dockyard and get withing reasonable walkin distance (10-15 minutes) from a nice beach area? Be aware the ferry from the Dockyards to St. George's takes approximately 45 minutes. Then the walk to Tobacco Bay. Faster option is taking a bus to Horseshoe Bay. About 25 minutes or so. BayStateguppy Posted June 23, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2010 Walk from Ferry to and from Tobacco Bay is uphill both ways. :) Sounds crazy but it's true. And it's a hike, so if you have difficulty walking, you might want to stay local and go to Snorkel Park.
Rysyonok Posted June 24, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2010 All good beaches require hiking and/or buses. All great beaches require extra hiking / bus time to get away from crowds. While crowds will take 12 minutes to get to Tobacco Bay in St. George's, take 20 to get to Catherine Fort or 30 to Alexandria Battery. While crowds will take 25 minutes on Bus 7 / 8 to get to Horseshoe, take 30 to get to Chaplin Bay / Stonehole Bay.
