perlgirlnj Posted June 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2010 I've read about hand-made moccasins from Kathy in ISP. Unfortunately we aren't going to ISP! Is there someplace else to get hand-made or good-quality moccasins? Is this a recommended souvenir or a tourist-trap?
bqkali Posted June 29, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2010 I was also on a search for mocassins on my last year. I ended up finding some great ones in Skagway for what I thought was a reasonable price. It was a leather store, don't remember the name of it, but on the main drag of Skagway (toward the far end on the left hand side if you are walking away from the cruise port). They had both unlined and lined (rabbit fur) options, with and without beading. I also saw nice mocassins in Sitka but at that point, I had already made my purchase in Skagway. Denali2003 Posted June 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2010 If you don't mind me asking - how much were the mocassins?
bqkali Posted June 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2010 If you don't mind me asking - how much were the mocassins? They were about $85, but if I remember correctly, there were styles ranging from about $70-120 depending on the materials used and intricacy of beading (if any).
