Mykonos - new pier options

Hello,

 

To all of the experts who have been to the new port in Mykonos, What transportation is there from the new pier to the town of Mykonos?

 

What beach would you recommend after a brief tour of the town?

 

Should we rent a scooter to get to the beach? I have read that it's pretty difficult to get a taxi and the buses are slow and could eat up a lot of time?
