Taking a cab inland-is this safe?

Hello-

I want to book a spa treatment at Oltsil Day spa in Belize city. It's about 5 km inland or an 8 min drive on Northern Highway. I'm wondering if we grab a cab there and ask them to come back and pick us up if this is safe and/or wise??

I certainly don't want to be stranded and can't make it back to the ship because we aren't doing a traditional tour or excursion. Any advice?

Thank you!

A cab definitely sounds safe especially for 5km...come on. I've taken many cabs before in my visits to Belize :). Its best to set an appointment though, or when you get to Belize look for Orange shirt taxi association they take care of all my needs, you feel like VIP cause you tell the cab what time to come and pick you up back and they're there before time.
