Lilli40 Posted July 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2010 We are planning to take the train from Cairo to Alexandria on 12/31, returning 1/1. Is it worth it? Will sights be open? Trains are the best option for long trips between major cities, offering a much more pleasant alternative to buses. I had a very good experience during my 2nd visit to Egypt . Round-trip Cairo-Alexandria A/C 1st class train. we started early morning to reach the railway station almost 25 minutes earlier to the take off time.(8 am) spent 2 1/2 hours to reach Alex.train station, they offer drinks and food with reasonable charge in the train but because we had our breakfast at the hotel i just had coffee . then used the agency bus to start a fantastic tour with a wonderful guide. back to the train station at 4:30 to back cairo. it was really great time.
