trailer trash vacations

Recommended Posts

Well I guess you could always try the so called "Celebration" 2 niter to boring Freeport>>

an old Norwegian ferry that has been converted to a party boat, they allow 18 year olds to drink, they have little cell like cabins with no tv for the standard insides....I have friends who went on it and said it was horrible

food like mall court food

Their swimming pool (if you can call it that) is a half circle the size of a large hot tub ....AND IT IS ABOVE GROUND LOL

worst of all they had ads with "Carmen Electra"...and a promo with Dollar General I hear...eeek

Really classy....the "Dollar General of the Seas"

Your friend is either jealous or ignorant. Either way, it's her problem, not yours. You love cruising, and that's all that matters. (But be sure to show her all your awesome cruise pics when you get home from your Dream cruise!) :)

Well it's certainly not trailer trash. But it is a budget line...along with rcl and Ncl

I do think it's the best one in it's class

I think that you need to go back and read the OP's post again. The person did not call Carnival trailer trash but cruising in general.

Even if you consider CCL to be a 'discount' line, it is pretty rash to go ahead and label it 'trailor trash'. Honestly, even if someone can only afford the cheapest cruise on a CCL ship, they are sill probably in the top 20th percentile in the socio-economic makeup of this country. We should all remember how fortunate we are to be ABLE to take a nice vacation, when so many folks in this country and around the world struggle to make ends meet everyday.....

That is exactly what I was thinking!! A cruise is not cheap by any means. I guess if you did absolutely nothing (no casino, no drinking, no excursions etc.) it could be considered cheap, but most of us do things that cost extra money. I am sure that most of us (when all is said and done) spend over a few thousand for one cruise for two people. That is not cheap at all. Not everyone can afford that and we are all lucky we can.

She will have to become an adult sometime and Daddy will cut the cord eventually. Her nose will eventually hit reality and it will drop to where it is supposed to fit on her face (its a little high right now).:D

Proud member of the Official Trailer Trash Vacation Club!

You beat me to it as I was thinking the same thing when I read the OP. Oh well. I

I also have a friend that will not cruise CCL as the reputation is everything. She'll go with us on a NCL but not a CCL. Go figure.

I'm going to have to assume that your friend is jealous. Most people don't get to take one vacation a year let alone 2 cruises. Even "cheap" cruises are expensive. By the time you add in excursions, airfare, spending money, etc you can easily spend $4,000 on a week's vacation. That my fellow poster is not a trailer trash vacation.

I recently ran into someone I worked with a few years ago and she has done a couple of cruises in that past couple of years. When I said that I love Carnival, her first words were "Isn't Carnival all party boats?" It's too bad the negative perception is still out there, but it's usually by people who have never been on Carnival.

Hopefully, I'm able to at least have them not rule out Carnival for a future cruise, but if they aren't convinced, then it's their loss, not mine. :D

Thank you for all the humor in all your postings this morning. I really needed it. I'll be on my third Carnival ship (Paradise) in November. I had a great time previously on that ship. You guys know how to laugh, how to celebrate having a great time on a cruise, and how to connect with other cruise friends. Thanks. Robin

Opinions are like noses, everybody has one.

I don't blame you but I've learned to handle that a little different. Take the high road, "Really?? Its a shame you've had to deal with that on all of your cruises. I've never seen that. We have a great time." Smile and walk away.

HAHA..great response..unfortunately..I have a temper..and I probably would be in the same boat (no pun intented) as the OP.

She's been reading too many negative reviews and one post flamers on these boards:D

On Wheel the other night some one won a prize 5 day trip to Sandals in Jamaica that had a suggested retail value of $6,700:eek: That's 3 suite balcony cabin 7 dayers for 2 on any ship in the fleet.

But take a deep breath and chill a moment. Her comments are not worth ruffling your feathers over.

I saw that the other day as well..and my jaw dropped..I thought..yep..I will keep my cruises.

As for Trailor Trash..maybe that is why when I am on a cruise I find the need to go to Karaoke and sing Red Neck Woman.

I love being in the caribbean and waking up somewhere new in the morning.

I have no experience cruising but during my research for my first next year, I was surprised at the amount of negative comments from various people about Carnival in general (party drunk people ships mostly). Little did I know that Carnival and Princess are the same company. I bet people who trash the line aren't aware of that.

There's always a couple of bad apples regardless of what is going on. I've dealt with routy people way past the legal limit at football game tailgating parties, NASCAR races, social functions, cruise ships, and many other places. One of the biggest and ugliest fights I've ever seen was at a high school football game.....and it wasn't the players on the field either!

Those situations, in my experience, are far and inbetween and if handled properly, they are nonviolent inconviences that can generally be settled down and everybody moves on. Having said that, there are certain times when the frequency is a little higher (spring break, 3-day party cruises, charters, etc) but never has a single incident upstaged or ruined the enjoyment of my vacation. You don't have to be drunk to be trailer trash or cause a disturbance. I guarantee you more sober people on land have caused her far more grief - many times over - than almost anything that she could have gone through on 1 cruise. I'd like to know how she handles the person who takes her parking spot at Wal-Mart. Can't imagine what she would say about them!

I may be wrong, but I could almost sense a touch of jealousy in the statement she made to you. You know...kinda like the boy-girl thing. If I can't have him, neither can you so I'll talk about him and make him look like the biggest jerk I can even though I am in love with him? I don't know, just my opinion if that makes sense.

To the OP, you shouldn't loose any sleep over her expressing her uninformed opinion ( 1 cruise does not a pattern make). You also shouldn't loose any sleep over expressing your opinion to her either! :)

I've run into people like that before. I really believe that they think by criticizing something, it makes themselves look better. They are almost afraid to say they like something. Too bad....

I went round and round with two friends about Carnival vs. RCI when a third was only wanting info because she'd never cruised before. Finally I pointed her here to MAKE HER OWN DECISION!

It sure is aggrivating when they only hear what they want to hear! I'm proud that I am budget-minded when planning my vacations... The smartest people are! Ever read "The Millionaire Next Door"? :D
