How are 14 day cruises handled. It looks like NCL is selling a 7 day cruise out of Venice and a 14 day cruise. If I book the 14 day cruise will I have to get off the ship after the first week and reboard all over again. what about the cabin would I have to change cabins as well. Has anyone done these cruises and what is your experience.

Thanks for the info..

If you book the same cabins for both cruises you will not have to pack up and take your stuff off the ship. You may or maynot have to exit the ship for a few minutes and get back on, it depends upon the itinerary...and I haven't been on the Venice itinerary. Hopefully someone else can answer that part.

Having done quite a few b2b cruises there's a couple ways to look at it.

First if your low on latitudes status you may want to look at the difference in price for the 2 weeks separate verses the 14 day price, because if you book the two weeks separate with two different reservation numbers then it will count as two cruises verses only one if you book as a 14 day cruise towards your latitudes level.

Because we are platinum level I take into consideration the price difference and compare it by adding in the free dinners at LeBistro for each week which is $50 for two of us.

As for having to leave the ship I can't answer for Venice as we haven't done that itinerary yet but for the Caribbean cruises we have had to make an exit for a few minutes, it's either got to do with customs and/or they legally have to clear the ship.

Try to get the same cabin for both weeks and once your booked keep an eye on NCL website that either room doesn't change, it happens but rarely.

For our upcoming Venice cruise 2011 we booked it as 14 days rather than two separate because cost difference worked to our advantage.

Also for future NCL cruises if you buy the cruise reward while on your cruise you may want to consider buying two as you can use one per cruise, so on your next b2b you would want to book it under two reservations in order to use both rewards.

Hope this all makes sense.

I have been asking people who have done the Venice b2b, and they have told me you do not have to get off the ship in Venice if you don't want to. Now I hope it's true,we are doing a b2b in Oct.- Nov.

Thanks for the info. I called NCL today and was told if you keep same cabin you don't have to pack up you can leave luggage as is... but you will have to get off and go thru customs again. also first I was told your account has to be closed out and paid after first week and than i was told noooo just tell them at check in that you are sailing for 14 days and account will stay open until the end of cruise... We were thinking of doing a tour on that day and again I was told this is possible but you will have to again go thru customs on returning from the tour and will need to be issued a new sail card... Seems strange to me why they even bother to sell a 14 day cruise why not just keep it at two separate 7 day cruises.

Thanks and hope all is well with you and Linda. We are so looking forward to the Greek Islands, Turkey and Croatia cruise. It's been years since I was in Greece.

Are you guys doing the 21 day cruise? If so the Spain, Portugal ports are just amazing.

Well I can tell your a little frustrated and understandable, however if you call 10 PCC's y'll get 10 different answers.

From what we have experienced in the past is a running balance carried to the second week.

It does make sense to me that we would have to briefly clear the ship, but I've always made sure we have an escort which has worked in the past but only because we are platinum latitudes. With an escort they will take you off, wait and then take you back on. However this too is never been a guarantee as we once ran into some jerk (customs) that decided to do a run on the NCL staff that escorted us off who which happened to be Philippine and of course they don't have US papers blah blah blah.

So my advice is deal with it once you board the ship.

You will NOT have to pack your luggage and take with you, thats for sure and even if you have to change cabins your room stewards will arrange to move your luggage.

I have done a B2B booked under 2 reservations and am doing one in February as a 14 day. Are you sure that the 14 day only counts as one cruise? The reason I ask this is because a PCC told me all B2B's count as 2 towards Latitudes, but they have been known to be incorrect.

Also, how was your sail card issued on a 14 day? Did you not have to get a new one for the 2nd leg? If your one card is set up for both sailings, that puts a damper on buying booze at the duty free at end of 1st leg to consume on the 2nd leg.:)

To be honest we haven't done a 14 day cruise under one reservation, our first 14 day cruise will be 1/2011. But I have always been under the impression that 1 resy equals one cruise.

Ok I just hung up from my PCC and I am correct, one resy = 1 reward towards latitudes.

As for the key cards, again our past have been b2b under two resy's so yes we had to get new cards and we usually were able to get them the day/night before. As for 14 day under one resy I don't know maybe someone else will be able to advise. I didn't ask PCC because the office people don't usually know how the ships work.

My guess would be that because the cruise is offered as 2 separate 7 day cruises as well that we will have to get new cards but they have your picture on file so it's a quick process.

Thanks. One thing I have noticed is that there are no 14 day cruises offered on NCL's website for 2012 sailings to the Caribbean. I ended up booking an 11 day on the Dawn because I couldn't find any alternating 7 day cruises that I could afford for a B2B. I will keep an eye on it to see if they do come up with some 14 day itineraries.

The 14 day cruise thingy for caribbean I believe is fairly new for NCL as I don't recall seeing it before. The first I saw was for the Epic. Then when I booked our Europe cruise I didn't see the 14 day listed so booked it as 2 - 7s. While it is a b2b cruise it actually has different ports for both weeks. But I'm still ahead factoring dinner perks.

We also don't mind doing repetitive ports because if we like the port we may get off other wise just stay on board and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The reason we always do b2b is to average out our flight costs from Canada, to also avoid winter for a little longer and to average out the stress of airports, security etc.

Yes we are, 7 day Greek Island then the 14 day TA, we have a AE for the full 21 day's. Most things are good, I had a stroke three week ago and spent two weeks in the hospital, my balance is coming back everyday and I'm swinging a golf club again. I'm not letting this stroke thing keep us from cruising. We did do the Med. a few years ago.

Good to hear your on the mend. I've had two heart attacks and just keep on truckin. I just keep saying to myself "whats the worse that can happen". We can't let this stuff keep us down and it's great to see that cruising allows a lot of folks to travel with health issues.
