lynyrd Posted July 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2010 We will be going to Belize in January and I really want to go cave tubing but I am terrified of bats. Do you encounter a lot of bats while in the caves?
LynneL Posted July 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2010 It has been a few years since I did cave tubing in Belize (during month of Aug.) so I can only guess that it is still the same. There were a few bats in the ceiling of the cave but went unnoticed until our guide pointed them out. They were sleeping - not flying around. I also would have been quite freaked out if they were flying around me.
lynyrd Posted July 12, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Thanks, maybe I can stick some earplugs in so I can't hear the guide...LOL BTW....love the way you spell your name! :D:)
Chilehead Posted July 12, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2010 We were just there two weeks ago and we saw a couple of bats way up near the top of the cave. They don't buzz you or anything. They were nowhere near us really. I wouldn't worry about it. If you do see them, they'll be a long way away from you.
rlse9 Posted July 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2010 When I went I don't remember noticing any bats. I'm sure there were some but not close enough to notice. The cave tubing is great.
