globe9 Posted July 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Me and the GF just booked the Triumph out of NOLA for December 6th(5 day). I have cruised before, but have never been on the Triumph. We also booked a balcony for the 1st time ever.....we chose balcony cabin 8253 on the Verandah deck. Is this a good cabin? We didn't want an obscured view cabin(meaning lifeboats in the way etc.)but I couldn't find any info on this cabin. Does anyone have any info on this cabin or a similar one. We selected first seating dining when booking, but after learning about the come when you want dining we may want to switch to that. 90% of our eating though usually takes place at the buffet, pizza place, etc. We like to stay casual on our vacations so usually avoid the dining room on most nights. What type of eateries does the Triumph offer? I've sailed the Conquest before in 2004, and they had sushi place/sandwich place/fish and chip place/etc. all on seperate deck from the casual buffet place. Does Triumph offer this? Is it any good? We mainly like to just chill and relax, not into rushing around and waiting in lines. We've been to these ports before, so may not even leave ship. Depends on how we feel that day. Anything we need to do/must eat/must see etc? Thanks!
LJ2b2c Posted July 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Check the deck above and below to see if you have any noise problems. I always like to have other cabins above me.
globe9 Posted July 12, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Check the deck above and below to see if you have any noise problems. I always like to have other cabins above me. Just checked and it looks like we have cabins on top and below. We are close to elevators, but we're young and I can sleep through anything, so that won't bother me at all. Might bother the GF, but I can get her some earplugs LOL We got a great deal on the balcony(just as much as we paid for OV Empress level on the last sailing we went on(Fantasy), so I'm excited....as long as their isn't an obstructed view. nothomeonacruise Posted July 12, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Yes, Triumph has little places to eat like pizza, etc.. One way to think about the dining room, with my family we found that eating in the dining room keeps us from over indulging in the buffet. The Triumph offers lots of little places to eat. You're in a good location with your cabin, IMO. I've been on the 7th and 9th levels on the Triumph. :)
Cruisin'Allie Posted July 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2010 We were in 7382 right off the aft elevators and liked the location. Up a few floors to the buffet & aft pool. Didn't have problems with noise or traffic either.

We have booked that same cabin for a 7 day eastern on Oct. 16, 2010. It is not an obstructed view. It is a very good location. You will not have any noise from the elevators. We were on deck 7 last time in a similar location. You will love it. I will let you know anything about the Triumph you want to know. This will be my 4th cruise on this ship. We sailed out Miami twice and New Orleans last March. We love the ship.
ilovesalsa Posted July 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 12, 2010 I sailed on the Triumph in February. It was my first cruise, and of course, now I'm hooked. There are several food options on Lido, in addition to the buffet. There is the grill station for hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, and fries. Also, a deli (awesome jalepeno turkey wraps), mongolian food, and the pizzaria. I do believe there is sushi somewhere at certain times? Maybe on the promenade near the casino? I'm not into that, but it seems like I remember seeing it in the Funtimes. Host Mach did a review of his trip on the Ecstasy, which has the same ports, Progresso and Cozumel. He had a lot of good info about Progresso, and next time, I plan to hang out on the beach there and get my cheap massage, for sure.

I am finding that the veranda is my fav deck. that is a great ship, NOLA is a great port, you will enjoy this cruise..:D
