Snorkeling excursion for 7 yr. old

All of the snorkeling trips require the child be 8 yrs. old. How strick is NCL if we book a snorkeling excursion with our 7 yr. old? Will they check the age of the child? This is for the Mexican Riviera cruise.

They will not allow you to book your 7 year old for a ship snorkel excursion if the age minimum is 8. It doesn't matter whether you would be booking it for the whole family; only passengers who meet the requirements can be booked at all.

Yes, they will have to know your child's age as you must include it with your booking information, and you cannot "fudge" it in any way because the date you use to book (and which will be used onboard) must match exactly your child's birth certificate or passport. They are and must be very strict with these age requirements and restrictions because of insurance/liability issues and because they can't make exceptions for one person without making them for all passengers.

Sorry, but there is no way to book it. You might want to look into booking an independent snorkel excursion where the tour operator has a younger age minimum.

Definitely look into independent tour operators. We are traveling with our DS who will be almost 18 months at the end of the summer and were worried we wouldn't be able to snorkel on this upcoming cruise. We found that all the tour operators we contacted (all found on this board) had no problem with us bringing our son along. (FYI - we'll have our parents there as well so we'll all take turns hanging with him either in the water or on the boat while the others snorkel).

I'd suggest you join the Roll Call for your cruise. There may be others traveling with children wishing to snorkel too. You might be able to organize a private shore excursion that is good with children. Look at the Ports of Call section too. The search feature is a great tool.

We did a private snorkeling tour with our 6 yr old GD in Freeport. She had a blast!

I agree with checking with the independent tour operators, depending on where you are going. Our son was 7 when he went snorkeling in Cozumel. We were not able to book on the boat because of his age. Since you have other people with you, you nay even be ablo to schedule a private tour. If it is only you all it would give you a little more freedom to move at your own pace. IF I had it to do over again, I would have tried to do a private one, even though it was only the 3 of us.

check out Pez Gato for cabo san lucas-- if you go to santa maria bay-- you can easily take turns snorkeling-- we swam w/ our toddler to shore & let him play on the beach & took turns snorkeling form the beach while he played in the sand
