Departing San Pedro with E-Docs: Recommendations on how to make the process easier

Recommended Posts

I'm not new to cruising, but new to e-docs. In fact, our cruise aboard the Monarch in July will be the first time we have NOT had hard copies of our documents.

I'm not overly concerned, but had a question pertaining to Luggage Tags. As we booked a guarantee, we do not yet have our stateroom assignment. As a result, we will be heading over to the pier without the ship's luggage tags. I will make certain we have tags on our luggage that have our booking number on them before we set off for the port. And I know, (after reading the posts here on this subject) about asking cruise line staff for luggage tags.

But I was wondering if our luggage tags were already made out with our name and room number (like the kind airlines print out at the airport) or if we had to lable them. I might bring along address lables I can stick on the luggage tags in a pinch if they are not pre-addressed.

Also, how easy is it to find staff and get luggage tags on everything? Was it a hassle? Will the porters have the ship's manafest and tags, or does one have to go inside the terminal?

We will be departing out of San Perdo, and plan to park our car at the port. Does anyone have any helpful hints to make dealing with our luggage easier?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Do you have your E-tickets yet? It should say on them what cabin number you have. When you get to the pier they will have blank luggage tags and you just write the cabin number on there and stick it on your luggage.

As we have opted for a guarantee cabin, our e-docs do NOT have a cabin assignment on them. I was told our cabin would be assigned to us at the pier.

Last few times we cruised with Royal Caribbean, our guarantee cabins were assigned by the time we got our cruise documents. Purely speculation on my part, but as the category for our sail date is sold out, I am thinking NOT having a room assignment right now is a good thing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an upgrade!

When you get to the pier, tell the porter you do not have a cabin asignment yet, he should be able to get that number from the RCI person who gives him the luggage tags to put on your suitcases. By the time you get to the pier, I am sure that you will have a cabin assignment.
