PARTY TIME at the El San Juan Hotel

Does anyone know if the El San Juan Hotel still has Friday and Saturday night live dance bands? Last time we stayed they had the biggest party with lots of Champagne:)

I had to call 2 weeks ago on a friday night to change my reservation in October and could hear a loud live band in the background of the call, so my guess is yes.

We were next door at the Intercontinental pre- and post-cruise this past late January/early February, and walked over to the El and it was hopping with live bands on Friday night (pre) and Saturday night (post).

I used to spend time in San Juan on business and we used to stay at a hotel near the El San Juan Hotel. To say that place was hopping on Friday and Saturday nights is an understatement. The bands are most excellent and appear to be excellent musicians. It looks like it's mostly latino music, but when you have good musicians, it doesn't matter what they're playing. Very elegant crowd. You'll see all types of dress, gowns, suits, tuxedos, but also, nice slacks and shirts (not necessarily collars). But no t-shirts with any lettering and no sneakers (I found out the hard way). Super place, the sunken bar and overhead chandelier is most impressive. Have a good time. :)
