The Big Booper Posted July 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2010 Are the stores open in Philipsburg on Sundays? Thanks :) We stopped at SXM on a Sunday on our TA Nov 2008. Almost nothing open in Marigot except for some food stands selling snacks, etc. Some Phillipsburg stores are open but close by 3 or 4 PM. So get the shopping done early. You could also check with the stores at the pier to see how late they will be open.
kyleandjenna Posted July 24, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2010 We honeymooned in SXM in 2008 and were there for a week. On Sundays the bigger stores were open, but the straw markets were deserted. The places like the coach store, the tablecloth stores, the liquor stores, the perfume and jewelry places were all open, but at abbreviated hours like the above poster stated. If you get out of Phillipsburg, pretty much only the airport/MAHO area has anything open. At least that's how it was in 2008. KYLE

gtaylor Posted July 25, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 25, 2010 Many or most of the shops on Front Street will be open, depending on how many ships are in port that Sunday. They will close as the ships depart. The shops at the Cruise Facility should be open. Twelve shops and twelve stands is the official count. DH might be disappointed, as generally the husband receives free beers as the wife shops. gary
