Many ships, take HAL to beach?

The day we are in port, over 9000 people will be on cruise ships arriving in Grand Cayman. I was thinking of taking a taxi to the beach, but because of the numbers am almost inclined to do the HAL excursion. According to the write up, chairs and umbrella are included. I'm afraid that if we go on our own (Sea Grape beach), we might find it hard to get the equipment and/or a patch of sand. The cost for the HAL beach excursion isn't much more than what we would pay in taxi fare and rental fees.

Am I overthinking this, or would the ship excursion be the safer bet? We were on the island about 10 years ago for a wedding, and I know how much we came to dread being downtown when the cruise ships were disembarking.

You should be fine either way...I was there in May and 3 ships were there at the same time. We had no problems getting around by taxi, renting equipment and finding a nice place at the beach to hang out.

You have to remember that everyone isn't going to be in the same place. Some folks will be off on excursions, some staying on the ship, some shopping, some at different spots along the beach, some exploring some of the other things to do on the island...etc.

Enjoy your trip!
