Port Lucaya

We are cruising in September on the Carnival Pride (just posted a Nassau question as well!!)

I was wondering how do we get from the port to Port Lucaya? I get nervous going on my own, but don't want to do any of the excursions listed! Also how safe is the market for our 15 month old?

You can take a shared shuttle there for $5.00 per person. Both the shuttle and the market are very safe. Just follow the crowds when you get off the ship toward the shuttle area.

Will dd need a carseat on the shuttle?? (she will be 16 mons) I dont even know if they would have a way to fasten it in place!!

The shuttles are Minivans with seatbelts. Fastening shouldn't be a concern. Sorry, I don't know if she will need a carseat or not though. You certainly aren't the first folks going there with a little one. I would hope the taxi concierge has it figured out by now.

It's safe. I spent a week there a few months ago and went several times shoping. No problems. Taxis are everywhere if you don't want to wait for a shuttle.

are the shuttles from carnival or are they local taxi type things? also do they stay at the beach and take you back? and can you leave when you want or do you have to leave when there is big group.

You can hop in a taxi (usually minivans) right at the port. It's about $5pp each way. When you're ready to leave the market/beach area, you can just hop back in one at anytime. They're everywhere.
