On shore excursions

Hi there im new to this forum we have just booked a cruise with celebrity eclipse sailing june 2011 14 night mediteranian

 

in regards to shore excursions are there any tips on whats best to do and go . ship prices seem very expensive as we a family of 4 standard tours range from 80-170 aus dollars . Are there any buses or taxis available at ports or is it better to rent a car for the day

Welcome to CC. You might want to head over to the "Ports" boards for Europe to get some advice and I'm sure a lot of info regarding your excursion questions in the Med. We've not been yet, but people on this site are always so willing to help!

If you go over to the Celebrity ROLL CALL pages for Eclipse... just click on ANY of the cruise dates going to the Mediterranean. There you will find people talking about the privat or independant shore excursions they are doing for the same ports you will be at... some even include links to private companies so you can see what's offered. Planning is half the fun so you'll have plenty of time to do that!

Ship shorex are usually more $ with less time spent at the site than you might want. That being said it it depends on your traveling style. If you feel comfortable by yourself and have done your research then do pvt if you would rather be cocooned book ship. We DH &DF) did E. Med last yr all pvt inc transfers. What are your ports? I will post my list
