Cathy p Posted February 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2005 Has anyone ever stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Ft. Lauderdale/cruise port. They have free shuttle from the airport and to the cruise. Some of the hotels that I checked had charges to pick up and take to the cruise. I normally stay at the Marriott, however, I really would rather spend my money shopping on the cruise not at the pre and post hotel. Thanks in advvance. Trixsea Posted February 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2005 I stayed here during Hurrican Francis last year. It is a new hotel, very clean with beautiful rooms. There shuttle to the pirt only took about 5 minutes. Highly recommended.
Cathy p Posted February 10, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted February 10, 2005 Appreciate the info. Since this is my first cruise I really didn't want to stay at the Motel 2 if you know what I mean. At 54 I want to do it up right Thanks again, Terry.:)
Trixsea Posted February 10, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2005 If you like Mexican food, there is a restaurant very nearby, Mi casa su casa. Great margarita's!!!:D
Cathy p Posted February 11, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted February 11, 2005 Next to seafood, mexican is it for us. Sounds great we will have to try it. Is it within walking distance ? This is our first cruise so I want to make sure everything is top notch. We sail on the Zuiderdam 3/5 in an SS cabin. Thanks again:D
Trixsea Posted February 11, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2005 It is probably about 1 mile away, but the road is very busy.

If your talking about the brand new one on Gulf Stream Way in Dania its really nice. Its right next door to Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World (kinda like a Home Depot for sportsman). Inside this shop is the Islamorada Fish Company Restaurant, its an excellent restaurant. The Fishing Hall of Fame sits between the Courtyard and Bass Pro as well, all within easy walking distance to your hotel. ;)
Trixsea Posted February 11, 2005 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2005 That's the one I stayed at.
terry55 Posted February 11, 2005 #9 Share Posted February 11, 2005 Thanks for the info...we'll be staying at the new Courtyard in April, pre-cruise. I thought I had read something about noise from the train tracks that are nearby...would it be this Courtyard or the other one?? Thanks.
Trixsea Posted February 11, 2005 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2005 My room did face the tracksand there was no noice, but it was also during Hurricane Francis so I'm not sure how many trains actually went by.
Cathy p Posted February 11, 2005 Author #11 Share Posted February 11, 2005 Oh thanks a bunch for the info on the Bass Pro shop and the restaurant. I just read this to my hubby and he was all excited. He loves the Bass Pro Shop and the restaurant sounds great to me. We are staying at the new one so we can have Mexican and Seafood. We are also staying there the night we get back. Maybe we will have the Seafood when we go and have some money.:p :p Nothing like a little Mexican and a margarita on the return trip.;)
Trixsea Posted February 11, 2005 #12 Share Posted February 11, 2005 The restaurant next to Pro Bass looked very nice and it is right next door. It was closed when I was there but someone said they had excellent Bloody Mary's!!:D
Cathy p Posted February 12, 2005 Author #13 Share Posted February 12, 2005 I sure hope the restaurant is open. Our plane gets in at 10:38 in the am so my hubby has plenty of time to do the FISH thing. Oh YEA:o After he finishes I will diffinately need some type of drink or two. I'll let you know on the return trip what I tried. HEE HEE:p

ciera123 Posted February 14, 2005 #15 Share Posted February 14, 2005 I'm glad someone asked and answered this question. We have reservations for the Courtyard, but were wondering if it was a nice place, and where we could eat. I also hear it's only about 7 miles to the Las Olas area. There's a Cheesecake Factory we may have to try.....
Bequia Posted February 15, 2005 #16 Share Posted February 15, 2005 There's a Cheesecake Factory at the Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall, 16 miles west of the Courtyard. You could eat and shop the outlets for designer cruise wear. ;)
Cathy p Posted February 15, 2005 Author #17 Share Posted February 15, 2005 I love to eat and shop. Both are my favorites. Since I have to endure the fish place next to the Courtyard, I am sure my hubby would not mind going to the outlets.:p Thanks for another fine suggestion.:)
