ID getting off and on ship

This may be a silly question, I have a drivers license but it has expired, and I cannot renew it until my green card arrives which it is unlikely to before my cruise. I would rather not take my passport of the ship so do you think it would be ok to use my license, do you think they would even look that hard at the expiry date?

This could be a judgment call, but I would not rely on using an expired ID. I work in an industry that requires ID to be presented...and expired ID=no ID. Honestly, if it is expired it really isn't any good. Yes, it is your photo and WAS valid until it expired, but you would really be relying on the generosity of guards who may or may not let you back in.
