Cruising on Dream tomorrow (10/08/10)

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Now I am really excited!

So I just have a few questions.....

OK I am flying from City of Derry and arrive at 6.30pm in Palma, how long does the transfer from airport to the ship take?

Its the OH's birthday tomorrow so I am keen to get a nice dinner in one of the restaurants on boards ASAP after boarding. Which one would you lot receommend, as we aren't going to have time to peruse menus etc, as we will be so late.

Is there a "setting sail" party tomorrow night for all the new folks?

I hear the food is gorgeous, and am a bit of a foodie myself so, what is the menus like, is there much fish/steaks/etc...

Go on indulge me I am so excited (I may be repetitive now lol) and I sitting in the office on the wind down with a tidy desk, empty diary and a Internet connection to keep me company!

We're sailing on the Dream tomorrow as well are really looking forward to it, dodgy reviews notwithstanding!

The transfer from the airport to the ship isn't too long, maybe 15/20 minutes at most, but you may end up sitting on the coach for ages waiting for other passengers to arrive.

Can't make a recommendation about a restaurant as I have yet to go on the ship but rebiews suggest the food in the Orion restaurant is excellent. If the menues are like other Thomson ships there will be a good selection of quality food so you shouldn't be disappointed!

There ususally is a "set sail" party. It's nothing too exciting to be honest. There will be some singing and dancing and drinking but that's about it.

Hope you have a good time!

I can't make any comment about sail away parties on Dream as we don't go on her until 21st September.

However, we have had some great fun on sailaways on Celebration. The one on 22nd April on the Easter Wonders repositioning cruise was the best ever - though that may have had a lot to do with the fact that we had all only just made it as ash cloud restrictions had only just been lifted and everyone was so relieved to actually be on board.

But there is something magical about standing at the stern of a ship, drink in hand, watching the lights of the port recede as you sail off into the night and a new destination.....

Couldn't agree more. The best feeling ever. Love it :)

Do you mean you`ll be late on arriving at the ship Paul?If so you could be stuck with the buffet

Orion restuarant is excellent,6 courses waiter service, ate there nearly every night.Different menu every night and plenty steak/beef and fish dishes. Altough I never tried it Sirens restaurant got good reports from fellow passengers but you pay a supplement and some passengers who tried both restaurants I`ve mentioned said that paying a supplement wasn`t really worth it when the food in the Orion with no supplement was equally as good.

Sail away party on your first night.Word of warning,if you want a seat be up top deck early, also arm yourself with a few drinks as its a struggle to get a waiter/served

Have a great time

Currently on Dream- restaurant- Orion- food lovely, service excellent- embarkation trouble free- wont take long to get on ship

Dinner in Orion- always fish on menu as well as other dishes- my husband a fish fanatic and he is never disappointed. Orion serves dinner until 10.00- try and make it- if not there is the Andromeda buffet restaurant which has nice food too but not as nice as Orion

Enjoy
