davis0056 Posted February 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2005 Does anyone know how long it takes to get from Newark to Cape Liberty? Our flight gets in at 1230 on 22 Sept. Does anyone know of a good limo service? We've gotten quotes from Paris Limo ($107 from Newark to the ship and about $150 from the ship to the airport with the two hour city tour) and from City Express Limo who wanted $60 from Newark to the ship. Thanks in advance Dave and Elaine
Joanandjoe Posted February 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2005 Those quotes seem awfully high for what must be a short (under 15 minutes) cab ride. The limos from Teaneck (which is further from the airport than Port Liberty) charge in the $35 to $40 range. Maybe the limo companies think Texans are made of money! Hopefully someone knows a local limo company, or you can find one through http://www.airportservice.com/ . Unless Port Liberty has its own zip code, the zip code for Bayonne is 07002. Joanandjoe Posted February 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2005 Royal Caribbean describes Cape Liberty (sorry about calling it Port Liberty) as being 3 miles from Newark Airport. It's hard to believe that such a short trip costs $60 - a cab is about $3 or $4 per mile, max. Have you tried a posting on the Royal Caribbean and Celebrity boards? They're more active than this board, so you should get your answer. Based on a posting on the Celebrity board, the cab fare is $30, which still seems a bit steep. http://www.cityofbayonne.org/blra/press/cab.pdf
davis0056 Posted February 15, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted February 15, 2005 Having learned the distance from Cape Liberty we've decided to just take a cab. We thought it was much further than it actually is. I guess those of us from Texas are used to LARGE distances between cities. Its a full day's drive from San Antonio to El Paso and a half day just to Dallas. And we sure all don't have lots of money! Thanks for your input. Joanandjoe Posted February 15, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2005 Cabs won't be a problem going from the airport to the ship. They might be a problem going from the ship to the airport: there will be a lot of people from the Connie fighting for cabs. We suggest asking on the Celebrity board whether there are adequate cabs at the pier at the end of a cruise, or whether it's better to arrange a limo or cab in advance.
